Notas: There is no doubt that nuclear weapons condition international relations, they have done so throughout the Cold War and will continue to do so in the future. The efforts of the international community, mainly within the framework of the United Nations, to regularize and even eliminate this type of weapons have helped to maintain the current international system but have not been able to eradicate them. The most provocative question is whether its elimination would favor peace between states or provoke a greater number of conventional conflicts, even among the world's greatest powers, which are currently far from friendly relations.
Es indudable que las armas nucleares condicionan las relaciones internacionales, lo han hecho durante toda la Guerra Fría y lo seguirán haciendo en el futuro. Los esfuerzos de la comunidad internacional, principalmente en el marco de Naciones Unidas, para regularizar e incluso eliminar este tipo de armamentos han ayudado a mantener el sistema internacional actual pero no han logrado erradicarlas. La cuestión más provocativa es si su eliminación favorecería la paz entre los Estados o provocaría un mayor número de conflictos convencionales, incluso entre las mayores potencias del mundo que en estos momentos están lejos de relacionarse amistosamente.
