Descripción:: A difusão das novas tecnologias da informação e da comunicação trouxe possibilidades diferentes de leitura e escrita. Neste novo cenário, tornou-se necessário utilizar a abordagem do letramento, para rever os conceitos e práticas de leitura e de escrita que foram estruturadas no contexto de uma cultura do papel, e no modo linear e alfabético, a partir dos vetores da cibercultura. Nesta perspectiva, este trabalho busca analisar as modificações no processo de letramento no contexto da comunicação on-line. Assim, para responder a esse objetivo realizou-se uma pesquisa bibliográfica sobre as categorias teóricas mais importantes dos campos de estudo enfocados, tais como letramento, alfabetização, leitura, escrita, cibercultura e EAD, buscando descrever as principais alterações dos conceitos e práticas de letramento após a revolução digital e apontando as possibilidades e aspectos problemáticos do uso da internet e das mídias digitais no processo de leitura e escrita no contexto da EAD.; The diffusion of new information and communication technologies has brought different possibilities of reading and writing. In this new scenario, it became necessary to use the literacy approach, to review the concepts and practices of reading and writing that were structured in the context of a paper culture, and in linear and alphabetical mode, from the vectors of cyberculture. In this perspective, this work seeks to analyze the modifications in the process of literacy in the context of online communication. Thus, to answer this objective, a bibliographical research was carried out on the most important theoretical categories of the fields of study focused, such as literacy, literacy, reading, writing, cyberculture and ODL, seeking to describe the main changes in literacy concepts and practices after the digital revolution and pointing out the possibilities and problematic aspects of the use of the internet and digital media in the process of reading and writing in the context of EAD.
