< dc:description lang =" en-US " > This paper explores the validity of system dynamics techniques for modelling and predicting terrorism and violent extremism. Specifically, Chamberlain's model is presented as an example of success in forecasts after the attacks of September 11, 2001. In addition, the adequacy to reality of the theoretical models that Faria left open will be confronted. The failure of the Afghanistan war (2001-2021) highlights the need to change the approach to the problem of terrorism and violent extremism. System dynamics is a tool that could be very useful in evaluating strategies to deal with the problem. However, no matter how good the tool is, it must be properly employed by those who apply it. </ dc:description >
</ dc:description >
