The Royal Navy Brigade was a military corps created at the end of the 18th century and lasted until November 1836. It was conceived to fill the shortcomings that were felt in the military corps that boarded the Royal Navy ships. When the Brigade was created by the license of August 28, 1797, it contemplated three distinct divisions. The first was dedicated to Naval artillery and its maintenance, the second was responsible for defending and disembarking from sea to land and the third was responsible for maintaining the structures of the ships and carrying out works in the Navy Yard. The Brigade Commander was designated as Inspector General and had the highest rank as rear admiral, who is responsible for ensuring that ships were provided with artillery pieces and for the Brigade deployments. However, throughout its existence it has undergone several organic changes to adapt to the requirements of its time. In November 1807, most of the numbers of the Royal Navy Brigade embarked on the fleet that took the royal family to the Brazilian colony. When the war was declared to France, this corps embarked on the fleet with the objective of conquering Cayenne and dominating the French colony in order to deny it a base in America. Meanwhile, D. João VI returned to Lisbon in 1821 and left a large part of this corps in Brazil, when Brazil became independent the members of the Brigade that were there never returned to Lisbon. From that moment onwards, the Brigade began to have problems in its organization due to the lack of personnel that could not be solved with a reorganization, being extinguished on November 7, 1836 and replaced by the Naval Battalion.

</ dc:description >

    10. < dc:description lang =" pt_PT " > The Royal Navy Brigade was a military corps created at the end of the 18th century and lasted until November 1836.

</ field >

            2. < field name =" value " > The Royal Navy Brigade was a military corps created at the end of the 18th century and lasted until November 1836. </ field >
